Pa, Fa, Ba...

Welcome to Chapter 2 ! Making these worksheets were just as a learning experience for you as it was for us. While practicing the phonetics of the alphabet, you must have come to realize that there are many different consonants for a similar sounding word. For example:
Ta and Taa(picture)
"Just like in English, in Nepali, you have hard and soft consonants, and it is important to differentiate them to be able to fully understand how the language works."
In Nepali, we say fat or thin consonants, with fat being the hard consonants. While learning Nepali, something that I try to do to consolidate the sound and image into my memory is by saying each letter out LOUD when I write them down. Once you understand the Nepali alphabet, putting the words together becomes very formulaic because what you see is what you read, for the most cases. In English, there are many circumstances where what we see is not necessarily how we read but because the language has been used so many times and has been wired onto us, it makes it easier to just come to the conclusion.
For Example: BUT and PUT
With enough practice, we hope that you will be able to differentiate between the two sounds!
